Kit Hargreaves MD Klick and Tap
"THUD Yorkshire was inspired by a recent visit by some of Hulls
young people to South Africa. This was an eye-opening trip that really
demonstrated to us that the challenges faced by young people, whilst on
different scales, both in life and in business are not all that different.
However both cultures have developed their own ways of dealing with these
challenges. These are strategies we can use to develop and encourage young
people in Hull and Yorkshire. This is what THUD Yorkshire is about - it's about
using every available opportunity, every available strategy and initiative to
create a environment where young people can thrive."
Cllr Martin Mancey Hull City Council
It is fantastic that Hull in this year of City
of Culture is to host the first of the Hook up Dinner Events in the UK at which
young people and established business will be able to support each other and to
work with schools and colleges and will be run by young entrepreneurs.
I am pleased that KCOM, RB and the John
Cracknell Youth Enterprise Bank are supporting this network along with Hull
City Council and I am delighted that the founder of the Hook up Dinner movement Selebogo
Molefe CEO - Lifesgud Global Investments (Pty) Ltd intends on coming to attend
the launch”

“In 2014 I visited
Hull, to see how Hull City Council were supporting young entrepreneurs and the
return visit by young entrepreneurs from Hull to Johannesburg was a great
success last year. We were extremely pleased that two of our enterprise
education projects, Beyond the Lemonade Stand and Biz Kidz South Africa, based
in Soweto and Alexandra Townships respectively are partnering with your
fantastic John Cracknell Youth Enterprise Bank.”
“I am delighted to be
returning to Hull to support the launch of #THUDYorkshire and to welcome it
into our international movement were young entrepreneurs can support each
other.”

#THUDYorkshire is a new initiative that brings
the passion, dedication and hugely successful model of the Hook Up Dinner to
young people in the UK. It began after a trip to South Africa by young
entrepreneurs. While they were there, the young people saw how even thousands
of miles away, the same issues were faced by young enterprising people there as
in the UK. As a result on their return, they decided to set up a similar
initiative in Hull and Yorkshire. #THUDYorkshire will be holding monthly
meetings to encourage discussion and facilitate connections between young
people to help everyone grow
