Q) What was your first job?


A) An exploited paper lad in all kinds of weather



Q) Describe your career in 25 words.

A) Student to unemployed, working in museums, Councillor on Humberside County Council & Hull City Council, Chief Executive Humberside Partnership than to my present job which I Iuv



Q) If you were...n't in your current position what would you be doing?

A) I had a job lined up as a trainee legal executive in Winchester but came back to the City I love



Q) If you could hire one person - who would it be?

A) Lord Sugar as not only is he a great entrepreneur, I could laugh at him been a Spurs fan and who knows on the day they should manage to beat Manchester City I could say You’re Fired!



Q) What's your ideal day away from the office?

A) Spending time or getting updates about my “enterprising” god daughter Imogen and her brother Rowan, walking the dog Paige or with our Jade and Ben



Q) What's your biggest passion in life (excluding your family - that's a given!)?

A) As a Manchester City fan since 1969 and season card holder it would be watching them home and away when I can and even watching them on TV, especially when with our Ben who is a United fan and we beat them



Q) What animal best reflects your personality and why?

A) Springer Spaniel – as always bouncing about with new ideas and uncontrollable but hope with passion and style

Shortlisted in GB Entrepreneurs Awards 2013

Two organisations from Hull have been shortlisted in the Great British Entrepreneur Awards which are set to become the recognised standard of excellence amongst entrepreneurs and those that support them This brand new set of awards are the only accolades solely dedicated to commending British entrepreneurs and the businesses around them. The winners will be announced on 19th November in Global Entrepreneurship week




The Hull Youth Enterprise Partnership and Hull City Council have been shortlisted for the category Entrepreneurs Champion (This award is for an individual, organisation, city or company who supports entrepreneurs. The winner will encourage, nurture and / or provide solutions to entrepreneurs and their businesses and will demonstrate clear examples of assisting British entrepreneurs in their development. The winner may be an office provider, enterprise city, VC, a business support initiative, professional services supplier or a technology company)



Also one of Hull’s young entrepreneurs Katie Norman of labrascals of Hull www.labrascals.co.uk has also been shortlisted in the category most captivating entrepreneur of the year ( This award is for the entrepreneur who captures the public’s attention with their ongoing passion and drive to bring their ideas to life. They will have at least one successful entrepreneurial venture and be constantly looking for the next opportunity.

Ruth Badger BBC Apprentice and Patron Hull Youth Enterprise Partnership, said:

“I am pleased to see that Hull City Council with the Hull Youth Enterprise Partnership has been short listed in the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, following on from them been highly commended in the Enterprising Britain awards 2013 for their work in developing an enterprise culture in the City and Katie Norman who has been shortlisted in the category most captivating entrepreneur of the year. I may be from Wolverhampton, not Hull, but I feel at home in a city that does so much to support its enterprising young people and am pleased that in its 10th year it is getting recognised for its work.”

Hull City Council are committed to supporting its enterprising young people in partnership across the City as we are more than aware that our enterprising young people are the future of the city, I wish Katie all the best for the awards event and her great business idea of encouraging young people to become interested in science through a range of fun activities whilst she is still studying at University.”
