National Apprenticeships Week

Claire Young the Patron of the Hull Youth Enterprise Partnership has endorsed National Apprenticeship Week, which takes place from Monday 7 to Friday 11 February 2011 and has a joint aim to highlight the talents and skills of apprentices and celebrate the value of Apprenticeships.

Claire Young former BBC Apprentice Star and Champion of National Apprenticeships said:

"I work with young people of all ages, all skills, all over the UK for at least two days a week so I have first hand experience of what their needs are. In the current economic climate it's critical they have aspirations and are encouraged to find information, and gain insight, of all opportunities available to them.

Many young people are feeling discouraged by the tough job market. It is really important that we continue to motivate young people and provide them with both the tools and confidence to maximise their abilities. In order for the economy to improve we need a skilled, confident, positive workforce. Organisations like Hull Training and their colleagues are certainly providing that through their various apprentice programmes.

I believe Apprenticeships are the key solution - allowing people earn whilst they learn, are straight on the career ladder and acquire new skills. As an entrepreneur passionate about business it's critical we continue to develop, train and nurture young people so tomorrow's business tycoons evolve and I am pleased to support Apprentices in Hull especially with the development of the new jobs in area following the Siemens announcement of up to 10,000 jobs associated with the wind turbine industry coming to the Hull and the Humber in future years."
