StartUp Britain Bus visits Hull

The Start-Up Britain Bus Tour 2012 ended its four week national tour in Hull in Queen Victoria Square on Friday 9th November in order to inspire and support young people who were interested in starting their own business. The 2012 Start-Up Britain Bus Tour was accompanied by Claire Young, BBC Apprentice star Hull Studio Enterprise Ambassador and Patron of the Hull Youth Enterprise Partnership. The event focused on employment, education and enterprise, and provided young people a chance to experience, educate and gain inspiration for their prospects in future employment and starting their own business.

Claire Young, Patron of the John Cracknell Youth Enterprise Bank, said:

“As a city Hull, has an ambition to develop its entrepreneurial culture and support its enterprising young people.

“I was delighted that Start-Up Britain decided to support our local efforts and was pleased that so many young people came to the Bus in particular pupils from Malet Lambert School, as there is no doubt Hull is an enterprising place and has everything in place to support its young people to become the entrepreneurs of the future"

Mike Notarantonio Hull City Council Youth Enterprise officer said:

“The Bus presence within the city provided a focal point of interest to ensure young people get the best advice to find their own tailored start up support, it was good that the Humber Start up Loans scheme was launched at the same time and so many business mentors attended to support the young people, we look forward to future tours."

Oliver Wilson, young entrepreneur and founder of Xuro, said:

“I started my first business venture at 13 in 2007 and I would never have found the skills needed if it wasn’t for the dedication of the city to helping young people succeed.

“It was great to see the work of my home city reaching out to events like the Start-Up Britain Tour as it is yet another great way to raise awareness of the city’s thriving enterprise culture amongst the young people.”

Hull Youth Enterprise Partnership aims to help inspire young people to get involved in enterprise and young entrepreneurship.
